Hartsop in winter



Hartsop is situated amongst some of the highest mountains in the Lake District and as such is almost guaranteed snow in the winter months. After a day in the ice and snow you can batten down the hatches and sit by the cosy fire in Weavers Cottage. Winter Tips: If travelling from the south stop at Prizet BP Petrol Station on the A590 of the jct 36 and buy your fuel for the fire to make sure you are cosy as soon as you arrive. If travelling from the North (and during your stay) get your fuel from Glenridding petrol station. Don't forget your firelighters. If you find yourself short of warm outdoor clothing there is an excellent outdoor shop in Glenridding If you are staying for Christmas you can order your turkey from Booths in Windermere in advance (tel. 015394 46114) Bring a towel for the wet and muddy dog.
